Potter’s Collective in Lori, Haiti

by Catherine Laine
October 9th, 2007

Potter at Work, Lori, Haiti

Pottery drying prior to being fired, Lori, Haiti

One of the demonstration projects we want to do in Haiti is with a potter’s collective in Lori, a village near Cap Haitien. The idea is to install a biodigester to process human waste; the biogas generated would be used to fuel a small kiln.

The village of Lori is also one of the sites under consideration for a municipal-scale waste treatment facility (more details on that one shortly). If the Lori site is chosen, the potters would have access to biogas to fire their large central kiln.
