IEEE TV: Wind Power - The Technology

by Catherine Laine
January 8th, 2008

The IEEE has its own internet TV station.

IEEE.tv: Wind Power - The Technology

Among some of its great offerings is this 15 min video on Wind Power

This program provides background information about wind power, including a brief history and overview of the technology provided by experts interviewed at the 2006 IEEE Wind Power Symposium. The program highlights activity in Europe, the United States, and China.

Of particular interest, they talk about the engineering difficulties of developing offshore turbines and the progresses in turbine, etc. design over the past 30 years.

Another screenshot from the same vid that I found rather fetching.

Right now the cost of wind turbines are still expensive, but sense this was posted, there are a lot more turbines! As more and more are built, the cost in production will go down!
