Fundraising for AIDG A to Z PDF Print E-mail
Want to throw an event for AIDG, but are out of ideas? Here is a list of great ways that you can put the FUN in fundraising. Woot.

A

Auction with an environmental and tech theme

Art exhibition

B

Birthday or anniversary party - ask for donation to AIDG rather than gifts

BBQ - get your friends together on a nice summer day for donations

Battle of the bands - get local bands to volunteer a performance to raise money, advertise and sell tickets. Get bands interested by knowing that they will become more well known in the area with your advertisements and the actual performance. Get community members interested by making the cost of tickets less in advance than at the door.

Bingo night! Charge by the card and have snacks to make it a whole evening's event.

C

Challenge Event - sponsored by AIDG, the host of whichever fundraiser makes the most money in a given time or has the best theme/pictures gets to go on a TecoTour for free.

Car wash - fun for all ages! Remember to advertise.

Champagne lunch, Curry dinner, Coffee and pastry breakfast, Cultural feast, or any other theme for a meal is a fun and exciting way to get people together and try new things.

D

Dress down day at work - ask your boss if employees can dress down for a day by donating money to AIDG

Day in the life - get sponsors to support a day without basic services to stress the importance of supporting AIDG. It might be a nice time to go on a camping trip.

E

Eating contest - funny for any age group, especially in the summer to reduce the mess! Have an event outdoors with games, face-painting, crafts and competitions where you charge for tickets to participate.

Eighties party! Theme your party by decade, it's always fun to get dressed up and reminisce.

F

Free services for a day in return for donations. Possibilities include working on someone's car, cutting hair, doing nails, walking dogs, washing pets, and many more! One of our good friends cat-sits for AIDG.

Fashion show - Convince local businesses to pay for their products to be modeled on the runway, or at least convince them to donate clothes in return for advertising their store. In addition, get volunteers to model, and have people pay for tickets to watch. Provide food to draw people to your event!

G

Gym competition - Get your gym to have a competition for most miles ran, walked, swam, etc. for a price to enter, with a prize of a free month's membership. Get the gym to provide AIDG brochures in order to inform costumers and possibly get them to donate more in the future.

Garage sale - Be clutter-free and raise funds for AIDG. Advertise to get people to donate items and come buy stuff.

Game night - Host a variety of tournament based on age or favorite game. To make it more family friendly, have games that work for all ages; possibilities include chess, bridge, scrabble, and even Candy Land and Sorry!

H

Hot dog, spaghetti, or pancake night. Dress code: black tie. This is an inexpensive and fun option to maximize profits yet still have the dress-up experience that is fun for a night out.

Halloween or Harry Potter party - have a costume party with an entrance fee. Provide fun themed food and decorations, and have AIDG merchandise as prizes for the best costumes! Alohamora!

I

Iron clothes, patch clothes, or do some other tedious task for a day that everyone would love to get off their list of to-dos for a donation or fixed price.

J

Jog, bike, dance, row, swim or walk-a-thon - get people involved to raise money with sponsors and put together a short event to get many participants with a minimum amount to raise

Jewelry making - use the pass-times you love to raise money! Make and sell jewelry or any craft.

K

Kite flying - have an entry fee and participants could get sponsored and see who's kite stays in the air the longest. You could even make a rule where participants have to make their own kites. Have the winner earn a piece of AIDG merchandise.

L

Lunch at work! Tell everyone beforehand and cook some dishes to bring to work for lunch one day and ask for donations (they would have had to pay for or make lunch anyways, you're making their life easier for a day).

M

Movie night with a tech, environment or international development theme to fundraise and raise awareness.

Matching gifts - ask your boss for a matching gift for however much you raise at your fundraiser

Murder mystery dinner - just like in the game Clue! This can be a low cost event, though it would require some planning. It could be based off of the game or whatever creative path you feel like taking. Have an entry fee for all guests for a night of food and exciting guessing and mystery work!

N

Nature or green themed party, to reinforce the environmentally friendly pursuits of AIDG
