AIDG Milestones 2005-2006:
- Jan 2005 - AIDG gains non-profit status.
- Apr 2005 - AIDG conducts several outreach projects in Guatemala for energy production: a biodigester installation for an orphanage in Rio Dulce, 2 windmill installations in rural communities.
- Aug 2005 - XelaTeco, AIDG’s first incubated business, opens its doors. Photos
- Oct 2005 - AIDG/XelaTeco distribute 750 emergency stoves to victims of Hurricane Stan.
- Nov 2005 - AIDG helps XT secure a contract for a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) funded small-scale hydroelectric project for a rural community.
- Aug 2005 - July 2006 - AIDG/XelaTeco conduct further outreach projects in the Quetzaltenango area installing biodigesters and solar water heaters for several communities.
- June 2006 - AIDG launches internship program in Guatemala.
- July 2006 - AIDG launches service learning tourism program, Tecotours. Photos
- Aug 2006 - An AIDG team assists with an alternative charcoal training workshop in Northern Haiti led by Professor Amy Smith of MIT and the Development Lab (D-lab). A simplified version of the D-lab's charcoal maker design (adaptations by Peter Haas) is successfully field-tested. Photos
- Aug 2006 - A preliminary assessment to determine the feasibility of starting twin shops in Haiti and the Dominican Republic is conducted.
- Dec 2006 - XelaTeco/AIDG complete the micro-hydroelectric project. 40 families, roughly 200 people, have predictable access to electricity in their homes for the first time. Photos
