Ready to Go? Booking Terms and Conditions PDF Print E-mail

1. Sign Up for a TecoTour
A $250 deposit is needed to reserve your space on a team.  The remainder of your donation plus proof of traveler’s insurance is  due 45 days before your trip’s start date. If booking less than 45 days prior, the full contribution is due at time of reservation.  If full contribution and proof of insurance are not received within 12 days of final payment due date,  your reservation is subject to cancellation by AIDG.  You may pay by check or credit card.

2. Your TecoTour Preparation Guide
Once you have reserved your place, we will send you your TecoTour Preparation Guide. It will contain all the necessary forms, information on what to expect on your trip and what to bring.

3. What Does the Contribution Cover?
Outside of trip expenses (food, accommodation, on-site travel, etc.), logistical support and advanced planning, the majority of your tax-deductible contribution covers the field costs of
outreach projects. Your gift will help families and
communities in Guatemala get electricity
sanitation and clean water.

Airfare to/from Guatemala, immunizations, mandatory emergency insurance, visas, optional side trips and other personal expenses are NOT covered.  These expenses can vary from trip to trip, so check with your Trip Coordinator if  you have any questions.  Also don’t wait until the last minute to book your flight!

4. Cancellation Policy
30+ days prior to TecoTour start date:
Deposit payment of $250 U.S. is non-refundable; all other payments are refundable less a $100 handling fee.

0-30 days prior to TecoTour start date:
No refunds and transfers. All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable unless due to denied acceptance on project by AIDG. Trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.

5. Insurance
Volunteers are required to show proof of traveler’s insurance, including medical evacuation insurance. We recommend insurance coverage provided by Banner (www.bannergroup.com) or STA Travel (www.statravel.com). We also strongly recommend volunteers buy trip cancellation insurance. Your travel agent should be able to give recommendations.

Please note that your travel arrangements are subject to the terms and conditions of the travel agency through which you make your booking. AIDG can take no responsibility for any cancellation or amendment penalties that may arise. On rare occasions that a TecoTour has to be canceled by AIDG, we will refund your full TecoTour program fee, but AIDG is not responsible for non-refundable airline or other tickets or payments or any similar penalties that may be incurred. It is your responsibility to protect yourself against airline and travel agency cancellation fees by taking out appropriate travel insurance.

6. Can I be removed from a team?
AIDG reserves the right to refuse reservations on its projects. This is an unusual event and is normally due to an applicant’s failure to meet the emergency insurance requirements of a particular project. AIDG retains the right to send volunteers away from a project once in the field should their behavior compromise the safety, outreach objectives or general performance of the team.

Self-misrepresentation in any way, including but not limited to age, health, intentions, proof of insurance, etc. will be grounds for rejection of reservations or dismissal from project. In the case of self misrepresentation, volunteers are not eligible for a refund.

REMINDER: AIDG’s TecoTours are service outreach trips, not vacation tours. AIDG makes every effort to describe field conditions accurately both in its publications and verbally, but fieldwork is a delicate business and prone to last-minute change. This as part of what makes an AIDG project a unique experience.

NOTE: Terms and conditions are subject to change at any time.
