2. Light up the darkness with renewable electricity.
In the past 3 years, AIDG and our 1st incubated business, XelaTeco, have helped 3 communities in Guatemala get clean renewable energy from micro-hydroelectric systems. With funding from AIDG and the UNDP, XelaTeco brought electricity to 40 homes (roughly 200 people) at Comunidad Neuva Alianza for the first time (inset pictures). A 75KW system was completely reconditioned for La Fe and Chantel (100 families, approx. 500 people). XelaTeco's work in La Fe and Chantel saved the coffee producing communities at least $4000 in electricity and diesel costs during the coffee harvest. We are currently working with XelaTeco to help the members of La Florida (large photograph) get electricity in their homes as well. We need your help to do it.
